The cars that slip on you
Eyethief (yes, one word, only a capital E) is my, Georgina's, fanlisting collective. It opened on the 25th April 2009.
I decided to register a new domain for my fanlistings, for two reasons.
I had joined many fanlistings, and they weren't fit enough (or organised enough) to stay on a small page situated at Heartdrops.org, my main domain.
Also, I had been approved for my first fanlisting, Keep on Pickin' (the fanlisting for guitar picks/plectrums).
Following on with my domain obsession, I therefore registered Eyethief on the 24th April 2009.
When I started out, Eyethief was very small. But the urge to apply for fanlistings for subjects I was - to put it simply - a huge fan of, was extremely hard to resist. Soon the amount of fanlistings I owned grew and grew to a greater number - currently more than 100. It's hard to keep the number down, I know - but since my friend Sebby mentioned how much of an awesome number 108 is - that's the number I'm keeping my fanlistings at.
All of this for just one night
So why did I choose the name Eyethief? Well, it's not such an interesting story as hidden meanings go.
I owned a little voodoo doll on a keychain, that had plastic eyes glued to it, that my boyfriend James bought for me. One of the eyes on the doll fell off, and I made the effort of gluing it back on with craft glue.
Unfortunately the glue didn't prove strong enough when I lost it after a day out. James and I went to the shop where we bought it from, and he (inconspicuously, I should add) took the eye off a voodoo doll and placed it in his pocket in a most peculiar act of stealing.
I lost that eye too, hilariously enough, and pretty much performed the same act when I went shopping on my own.
Hence, the name Eyethief. As well as holding a hilarious "inside joke" meaning, it holds a nice meaning, considering that The Book Thief (Markus Zusak) is my favourite book.
Eyethief.com was registered at NameCheap.com and is hosted at Heartdrops.org (my main site) as an addon domain.
